My Novel

Photography has always been a big part of my life. I got my first box camera in 1971, I would have to say it certainly was crude when it came to accuracy, but small 110mm cameras were on the market soon.  Since I was very young I could not afford a 35mm camera but to my surprise the small 110mm camera took great pictures and I was mostly impressed.  I used to take pictures of everything, taking pictures made me feel like I was on Safari and there was no end to what I could do with the pictures when they came home from the developer. One secret that I soon found was that it was easy to make friends as long as I had pictures to hand out to everyone, and I could fford to do that.  It took a short while but after some time I had scrapbooks of everything and also plenty of loose pictures to spare, I still have some of the pictures I took as a child and I think that's incredible.  The thing about pictures is that they can really bring back memories of times when you were having fun and so when your friends get used to you having a camera they come around more often although they wouldn't stand up and tell you to get some free pictures is why they came, so photography is a friendly personal thing for everyone involved.  I use waterproof glossy paper all the time because you never know when you are going to find that one special photograph that was taken many years back and you still want it to look good like when you first printed it.

Sometime around the age of 16 I bought myself a 35mm single lens reflex camera because I had a part-time job and could afford it.  I saved some money but didn't really have an exact goal in mind until a new camera is what I ended up buying.  Yes, it was the most beautiful looking Instrument that I had ever seen sitting on that top shelf in the glass case of the camera shop, along with many others, and I could not pass up buying the Pentax 35mm SLR camera.  Having some experience I knew how to follow the instructions that came in the box and I also went to the library and took my time reading about how to make good pictures, the SLR opened a whole new world of photography for me. Taking pictures along a local bike trail was my favorite thing to do, sometimes I would walk a couple of miles taking pictures of flowers animals and other interesting nature.  Most of the people that I met looked happy to live in our town in the country and I always thought it to be funny when their kids would walk by and make strange faces trying to get me to photograph them.  I felt weird at first but soon I had met others who were doing the same thing as I and they had many excuses for what I was doing and they were all valid; to get out of the house, to get away from the wife, to walk the dog, to exercise the kids, to have a great hobby and to do something that makes themselves feel good.  Now I have a used Sony 5.5 megapixel camera and it sure was exciting to go digital.
