Description

A fabulous shaped antique pair of late 19th or early 20th century stoneware ewers in the form of griffins in the renaissance style. A long outstretched neck and a long tail that wraps around the base. The globular bottle painted in blue and decorated with white circles with gilt highlights. The wings, legs, tail and neck in a bottle green, his head in a light blue glaze. They were made by Villeroy & Boch (Mettlach) and are fully marked to the base. A spectacular pair of ewers.
