Description
Late 19th Century pair of bentwood beech chairs by Jacob & Jospeh Kohn with original maker label to base of chairs. Typically inlaid with art nouveau style pattern. Sold as a pair of individually at £135 each.
Some water marks visible to the seats of each chair as shown in photos. One more so than the other.
Jacob Kohn together with his son Josef Kohn founded their enterprise in 1849. Kohn would later rise to become one of the leading furniture makers in Austria-Hungary, becoming one of the leading competitors of Gebrüder Thonet. Kohn worked together with artists of the Wiener Werkstätte and Josef Hoffmann in the design of many pieces.
