Nineteenth Century Percussion Pistol With Walnut Grip. A simple, utilitarian design with a "boxlock" action where the mechanism is enclosed within the frame, offering protection from dirt and residue. European percussion cap pocket or traveling pistol, sometimes referred to as a "muff" or "boot" pistol. These types of single-shot, muzzle-loading firearms were popular for personal defence due to their compact, easily concealable size.
