One
of the things, as a very young student
in elementary school I always wanted to
do was write a book. They say when
something interests you time flies and
during school I took many English
classes that my friends thought were
unnecessary but because I was having
fun the classes didn't seen like
chores to me. Before I reached
High School I had made a point of
taking as many writing classes as I
could so someday I could write that
Great American Novel. It
wasn't until some years after my
graduating of High School that the idea
of writing a book came back to me and I
began writing again in
1989.
Maybe one of the reasons it took me so
long to get started was that I was
young and I didn't believe I had
thought it through completely enough, I
wanted to write something that would
have meaning to me, something I could
open and read later in life that would
bring out memories of the time when I
wrote it. I didn't know what
I was going to write until I put the
pen to the paper but after writing for
months I finally settled on an idea to
put together a fictional light romance
that would reflect upon my ideas of how
a young adult life could be, and
because I had already been there and
done that it would be easy. When I
started writing this book I was 23 and
had just returned from Germany where I
was stationed as a Generator Mechanic
(52-Delta) in the US
ARMY.
My book Hargrove Maintenance is
about a group of graduating High School
guys that want to be recruited to work
at the local public utilities service
in the fictional small rural town of
Hargrove,
USA.
