Description

A wonderful original vintage chair. Made for the investiture of Charles Prince of Wales in 1969, now King Charles III. Designed by the 1st Earl of Snowden, a total of 4,600 were made for the investiture that took place on the 1st July 1969 at Caernarfon Castle in North Wales. The chair is made from red stained beech, and features the Prince of Wales feathers and the motto 'Ich Dien'. It has a Welsh red tweed seat as well as its original cushion, which is often missing. These chairs were available to purchase by those invited guests to the investiture after the event. This chair comes with provenance, as it has the original paperwork giving the name of the guest who purchased it, a Miss B.E.N. Davis, as well as the event booklet and personal invitation and entry ticket. There is also her train ticket and special menu onboard the train which Miss Davis would have travelled too and from event. The paperwork is with reception. This chair is an icon of its time, and is highly collectable. Dealer Code: 3307.
