Description

A beautiful antique late Victorian French Limoges enamel on copper portrait. Handpainted and enamelled by master enameller Louis Dalpayrat (1838-1901). She is captured in profile with pale skin, long fair hair filled with flowers and leaves, highlighted with silver paillons. Dalpayrat worked both in Limoges and Paris, as well as coming to England where he taught at the South Kensington Art School. He also completed over 40 commissions for the Victoria and Albert Museum. The framed plaque has his initials LD towards the edge. The reverse is fitted with an easel as well as a wall hanging loop. Stock Code: 3589.
