Contact us about Efik Anglo African Rare Early 1900s Calabar Tribal Punch Decorated Brass Charger

Original early 20th Century large 24" brass charger with punched decoration of flowers and hand stamped "A.J.R To F Day-Barker May 28 1929". I do not know a lot about these but they are known as Efik chargers, and were a sign of great wealth, presented to Kings and Chiefs. Efik were middlemen trading goods from the West. Imported plain from England and decorated in the Cross River or Calabar district, Nigeria, West Africa. This piece does have some age wear from a lacquer that has worn off and there is a repair, as seen in the photos. An unusual and rare decorative piece.
