Description

A fine complete set of 52 antique Georgian playing cards. They were made in London by Thomas Creswick in about 1835. Thomas was a paper maker and wholesale stationer who produced playing cards from the 1820's. This is a stencil coloured wood engraved set of French suits with single figure CR1 courts, and type II red jacks. Complete with a rare Old Frizzle ace of spades, this denotes that a duty of one shilling was paid on the cards as the goverment had introduced tax on playing cards. Each card with square corners, the back is a starburst pattern on a pink ground. Dealer Code: 3351.
