Description
Brass and iron.
Early 19th century. Brass cabriole front legs. Plain iron back legs. Tall enough to be placed over the fire fender for ease of access. Pierced brass top and frieze. Carry handles to the sides. The four legged trivet would be placed in front of the fire to hold kettle or food.
A Footman is a 19th century metal stand kept near the open fire or range where plates would be placed to keep warm. They were often made of brass or steel. The later four legged trivet would be placed in front of the open fire to hold a kettle or plate of food.
Height 39cms. Width 34cms x 32cms.
