Contact us about Belonged to Eric Morecambe - Victorian Inlaid Walnut Sewing Box (& Contents)

Previously owned by the legendary comedian performer ERIC MORECAMBE, this original mid to late 19th Century Victorian walnut sewing box still has the original contents that belonged to Eric and his wife Joan. The box itself is a decent quality box in walnut with mixed wood inlay throughout. The lid contains a plush purple silk lining with oval mirror, and the original tray is still present. This has been used and there is age wear and minor losses. No key. The contents include the usual sewing kits, cotton, buttons, needles & pins, measures, pieces of cloth and silk, as well as decorative scissors, thimbles (including two silver ones) etc. There are also some personal effects such as Eric's 'Terry's Hedgehog Pipe Reamer', a clothes label for his son 'S. Bartholomew', an Old School pocket badge, a miniature treen bottle with dice, a link from one of Eric's watches and three repair kits from various hotels that they stayed at. This is a wonderful treasure trove of keepsakes. This is a piece of 'Morecambe and Wise' memorabilia and was part of Eric and Joan's personal effects. PROVENANCE: This was purchased from the 'Eric Morecambe Collection' auction, and still has the lot number label on, as well as a couple of auction labels to the back.
