Description

A fabulous and very collectable antique 19th century photograph album. What makes this really interesting is that almost all the people in the photographs are named. It still has its original purchase price in the 1870's, a cost of £10, which would be £1,000 today. It was given as a wedding gift to Sir James Colquhoun from his cousin Maria E J Moresson on December 6th 1875. Sir James Colquhoun was the 5th Baronet of Luss in Dunbartonshire. The album is packed with images of wealthy people, most are probably relatives of the Baronet. The leather spine is gilt tooled, it has a heavy onyx cover with gilt metal decoration, and a central pietra dura panel of flowers. The current Baronet is Sir Malcolm Rory Colquhoun the 9th Baronet. It would benefit from further reaearch into the names of the people shown. Stock Code: 3455.
