Description

A fine cased antique Victorian daguerreotype photographic portrait of a lady. This printing technique was popular in the 1840's and 1850's. They were expensive at the time, and could only be afforded by wealthier people. They came in six different sizes, this is a quarter plate size, 11cm by 8cm image. The image is oval framed in a decorative gilt mount within an outer frame. She has delicate hand-painted gilt highlights to her jewellery. Opposite the portrait is a dark red velvet panel. It is then presented in a hinged leather outer case with working brass clasps. Stock Code: 3323.
